High Fidelity (2000)

This is a film about a loser guy who likes to make top five lists, making top five lists trying to justify why he’s a terrible guy and no-one wants to date him.
The premise is fine, except for the fact that he’s really annoying, and so when he gets his happy ending, we were left disappointed at the love interest making the same mistake again, rather than happy for them. Between the dramatic breakup at the start and the dramatic reunion at the end, he wanders around his city, meeting his ex girlfriends and internally justifying why they are all terrible people. Where’s the clarity and self reflection?
Not the best example of its genre.
