The wild robot (2024)

There’s nothing especially spectacular about this animated film, but in terms of plot, it feels to me that it definitely takes more inspiration from Pixar than Illumination.

The animation is fine. There’s nothing particularly innovative or interesting about it, but it is smooth, realistic where it wants to be, and doesn’t look janky or like it will end up dated. The plot, too, is serviceable, and although it is fairly predictable after the first fifteen minutes or so, is still sufficiently heartwarming so as not to feel like an empty disappointment.

I wouldn’t say it’s worth seeking this out at all, but it’s not worth putting energy into avoiding either.
